Amy Beck

Licensed professional counselor, co-owner

I believe in every person and the inner strength they already inherently have.

  • I work with teens and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, and general life stressors or transitions.

I ask each person who seek out services to come in with a sense of curiosity, and openness to new ideas, concepts, and ways of coping.

  • Hi, I’m Amy and welcome to Mindful Change STL. I hope regardless of if you decide I’m a therapist you’d be interested in meeting or not, you continue to provide yourself what you need as you explore the option of therapy.

I believe in the importance of therapy to help a person explore what it is they need for themselves. I think about the power having a nonjudgmental, safe space provides another human being as they heal. In my 9+ years as a Licensed Professional Counselor and over 10 years in the mental health field, I notice having a space with another human being that is nonjudgmental, accepting, and challenging helps a person to feel heard and validated in their experiences. This creates the space a person needs to provide themselves the growth and empowerment they seek.

Additionally, this space helps a person learn to trust themselves, to identify what their needs are, and explore how to provide that for themselves.

By having a professional person present providing tools, connectivity, and acceptance of you regardless of your experiences, it helps to move to a place of personal growth and empowerment. I strive to provide this for every person I work with.

I can help with learning coping skills to help with the day to day experiences, as well as process the past distressing experiences or traumatic experiences that may be attached to the current difficulties you are experiencing.

  • I have over 10 years of experience in the mental health field and 9+ years providing therapy. I have worked in case management services for community mental health, therapy services for children, adolescents, and adults for a nonprofit organization, a group practice providing full model DBT (I no longer provide the full model, only skills), my own private practice, and now developing a group practice. I am trained in multiple evidence-based modalities, and much of my focus is consistent with skills taught in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR). I am trained in both modalities. I also enjoy incorporating expressive arts therapy interventions as needed to help build an increased awareness and delve deeper into emotional experiencing to help with healing. I graduated from The Forest Institute of Professional Psychology with my Masters in Clinical Psychology (MACL) in 2014.
