Nicole Newman
M.Ed., Provisionally Licensed Professional Counselor
-
I have experience working with individuals who are in the LGBTQIA+ and the BIPOC community. I’m also very passionate about working with adolescents.
-
I bring a genuineness and non-judgemental stance with each individual I meet with. I also find it’s important to bring humor into my sessions to build rapport and show that I have the ability to meet anyone where they’re at.
I try to see you for you and match your needs in session. I want to ensure a safe space that will help you learn coping skills, different ways of thinking, and self-acceptance. I enjoy identifying patterns or beliefs from childhood that may be currently impacting you. I utilize existential, multicultural, psychodynamic, and DBT theories in my sessions.
-
I graduated with my M.Ed from UMSL’s Clinical Mental Health Counseling program in 2024 and also obtained certification in multicultural and social justice counseling. My field experience took place at the St. Louis Psychoanalytic Institute where I completed their psychotherapy practicum program. I’m a counselor in training under supervision.
I participate in the DBT collaborative facilitated by Still Move Counseling and attend the bimonthly consultation team for additional support outside of supervision.
